Vicseeds to release Avalon AR1
Vicseeds is proud to announce the upcoming pre-release of
Avalon AR1
, the first Australian bred perennial ryegrass inoculated with the animal safe AR1 endophyte.
For the first time farmers will have the option of sowing a perennial ryegrass that not only offers the persistence expected from an Australian bred variety, but also the animal safety, reduced stock management issues and economic benefits provided by the AR1 endophyte. Handling stock whether it is dairy cows, beef cattle or sheep that have ryegrass staggers is hard work and causes all sorts of management headaches. Stock that graze Vicseeds Avalon AR1 perennial ryegrass will not get ryegrass staggers nor any of the other animal health issues associated with grazing some other pastures.
Vicseeds Avalon AR1 is highly suited to all animal grazing operations where ryegrass staggers and animal overheating is an issue. It is a highly winter productive ryegrass that responds quickly to opening autumn rain and persists. It was bred and developed in Australia, and is grown by Australian farmers for Australian farmers.
Vicseeds will be promoting the release of Avalon AR1 at Sheepvention in Hamilton on the 3rd and 4th of August 2009 and also at the Grasslands Society Conference in Geelong on the 6th and 7th August 2009.
Vicseeds Avalon AR1 will be commercially available to farmers for sowing in autumn 2010.
